The Leadership Academy fosters initial leadership development and increases basic skills contributing to professionalism in the workplace. This three-day, in person training will enable you to strengthen your own leadership skills, become more comfortable sharing your story, increase your ability to a become leader in your community, and contribute to fostering a “family-driven” and “youth-guided” system of care.  

 

KFLA training is for parents or primary caregivers of children birth to twenty-six years of age with emotional/social delays or behavioral health disabilities, and young adults (16-24 years of age) that have a behavioral health disability. These transitional-age youth must be at least sixteen (16) years old and be able to participate in the group process. Furthermore, KFLA is for providers or agency partners that understand and support the “Family and Youth Driven System of Care.” BBSC emphasizes the importance of evidence-based practice and values the opportunity to provide professionals working in human services with continuing education that will enhance the work they are doing with Kentucky’s children, families, and communities. 

 

This training is also a pre-requisite training for those who plan to apply to attend either the Family Peer Support Certification Training or Youth Peer Support Certification
